Strategically Sending Emails

GO Kickball has done extensive research on the optimal times of conducting email communications. It goes without saying that you want to send an email at the optimal time when people are most likely to read them.

The optimal times to send emails are Tuesday-Thursday from 11:00 am-3:00pm. We do not like to send emails on Mondays or Fridays.

On Monday people are getting into the office for work. They are focused on the work week and they are not thinking about kickball. Most people spend all day Monday catching up on work. Their email boxes are also saturated with work emails, if you send an email Monday morning at 11:00 am it will get buried beneath many other emails. They will either delete it or never get around to reading it.

On Tuesday people have usually caught up on emails and their inboxes are cleared out.  They have gotten back into the swing of the week and have time at the office to read that ever important GO Kickball registration email. The same can be said for Wednesday and Thursday.

By Friday people start to “check out” while at the office. Some people work from home, others do half days, some leave work early, still others are saying “TGIF” and are thinking about the weekend.  They are not thinking about checking email or signing up for kickball. If you send an email on Friday it will get buried under every other email they get on Friday-Monday.  The likelihood of them reading it is very slim.

We have seen this trend repeat itself. There is even research that supports this logic. Social media is ever growing, but email is still the most powerful way of reaching your customer.  Even though people are now receiving email on their phones, these principles still hold true. By following these principles, you will increase they likely hood of your emails being read.
